Today was my first day at the studio, I was pleasantly surprised at how productive it was. I began my day with a tour and completed all the necessary paper work. After the initial introduction, My first project was to get to grips with a new piece of software I hadn’t used before – “Affinity designer”. The software is similar to Illustrator and I found it simpler to use, this made me feel more confident in using the new software. I was given a task to draw a simple drawing that would allow me to practice many of the fundamental skills needed for using the programme efficiently, I found this task very helpful as it developed my design skills almost unknowingly, as the focus was on drawing the image that had been set. Following this I used the masking tool using my name and initials, I enjoyed this as it was a new skill that I had not come across before. Towards the end of the day, I was given some rough footage, with this I refreshed my final cut skills and learnt some more about stabilisation and color correction, again a
skill that will come in handy for me not only during my time at Fran wen but in the future when editing too.
Time flew by today, yet I felt I learnt a lot. I am excited to see what day two brings…
